A Witty Perfomance of Dick Whittington at the Peoples Theatre
The story follows Dick as he arrives in London, hoping to find fame, fortune and the streets paved with gold. The last thing he expects is to end up on a toe-tapping, bell-ringing, swashbuckling adventure that takes him from Heatonia to the shores of Morocco!
The show got off to lively start with a slick, smart and big-hearted performance from Evelyn Ryan who played the central character, Dick Whittington.Steve Robertson was magnificent as Sarah the Cook. His over the top and tongue in cheek manner was everything a pantomime dame should be and more. Roger Liddle's performance as Captain Flotsam was wonderful. His impeccable comic timing was a joy to behold.
The show delivered in every respect, from the well-choreographed dance routines, carefully thought out costumes and sets, to the lighting, music and the hard work put in by all the cast.
The Peoples Theatre production of Dick Whittington is a joyous interpretation of a beloved pantomime classic. It was packed full of comic routines, slapstick, lively dance routines and memorable moments. Perfect for people of all ages to enjoy. A purr-fect performance from beginning to end.
